There are two types of JR West Pass : Kansai Area Pass / Sanyo Area Pass

Kansai Area Pass
Type of pass for excursions in the Kyoto - Osaka - Kobe - Nara - Himeji area
This is a pass that can be used for traveling to Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, Nara, Himeji and other sightseeing places in the Kansai area via local traisn ( rapid-service and new rapid-service trains can also be used). Of course, available for getting off at Universal City Station, the closet station to Universal Studio Japan.

Kansai Area Pass [ For the Kansai (Keihanshin) Area)]

Pass Description :

1) This pass is valid for getting on and getting off a non-reserved seat of the Haruka Limited Express as well as local trains (including rapid-service and special rapid-service trains) in the designated area operated by West Japan Railway Co.
(JR West).

2) It cannot be used for boarding Shinkansen super express trains. When boarding a train other than a Shinkansen super express train, such as a limited express or express train, it is necessary to separately pay the applicable charges for these and other trains.

Sanyo Area Pass
Type of pass for excursions in the Osaka - Okayama - Hiroshima - Hakata area
This is a pass that can be used for traveling to Osaka, Okayama, Hiroshima, Hakata and other sightseeing places in the Sanyo area via 'Nozomi" and other Sanyo Shinkansen super express trains.

Sanyo Area Pass [For the Osaka - Sanyo Area]	Pass Description : 1) It allows for unrestricted boarding and unboarding, within the designated area, of the following trains operated by West Japan Railway Co. (JR West) : "Nozomi", "Hikari" and "Kodama" Sanyo Shinkansen super express trains, " Haruka" limited express trains, ordinary cars of local trains (both reserved and free-seating), and the Miyajima ferry line in Hiroshima. Note : • in cases of reserved seats : A reserved-seat ticket (at no extra charge) at a ticket office "Midori-no-madoguchi" at stations of the West Japan Railway Co. before boarding the train.


Qualifications for Purchase : when purchasing in Japan
Overseas customers who meet all of the following conditions can buy the pass : ¤ Persons who have a passport issued by a government or other authority outside Japan, as well as customers who have come to Japan with "Temporary Visitor" residence status ( 15 day period of stay ). However, persons from countries with visa exemptions - such as the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, and New Zealand can buy the pass, even with a 90 day period of stay in Japan. ¤ Customers who have an Embarkation / Disembarkation Card ( Ed Card ) for departure from Japan, as well as a return ticket of airline or ship. ¤ Customers who are purchasing a JR-West Rail Pass for the first time during their stay in Japan ( purchase limited to one pass per person per trip ) * Under the Immigration-Control Act of Japan, "Temporary Visitor" status is that which allows for a visit to Japan for sightseeing or other purposes for 15 days or 90 days.

Items to Remember at Time of Use :
¤ The JR-West Rail Pass is limited to use only by the registered person. It cannot be turned over to another person. You are required to carry your passport at all times while using the rail pass. ¤ The JR-West rail pass can only be refunded at the exchange location prior to the starting date of use. For all refunds, a processing fee of 10% is deducted from the yen value of each pass. When the amount to be refunded comes to 210 yen or less, however, a minimum fee of 210 yen will be charged. Under no circumstances will the cost be refunded on or after the starting date of use of the pass. ¤ No items appearing on the JR-West Rail pass may be altered. ¤ The JR-West Rail Pass will not be reissued if lost or stolen. ¤ Other conditions are subject to passenger transport regulations established by West Japan Railway Co. ( JR West ), as well as the laws of the country of Japan. Moreover, the exchange slip is subject to the rules and regulations of tyhe company that issued the slip.

ENTRY VISA (S) AND TRANSIT VISA (S) REQUIREMENT

In order to ensure a smooth and hassle free trip, we would like to seek your kind attention to take special notice of the following important reminders :

Passengers' name in the booking must be spelt exactly in the same manner as stated in the passenger's passports.
Passports should still have a minimum of 6 months validity upon completion of the journey.
It is the passenger's responsibility to obtain all Entry Visa or Transit Visa that are required to enter the country of destination or stopovers.
Transit Visas must be duly obtained if the plane's flight path involved a Transit or Stopover in another country like for example, a Transit in Australia whilst en route to New Zealand or a stopover in the United States whilst en route to Canada.
Passengers are advised to check carefully for any errors or omissions in the booking details, flight itineraries, air tickets, and hotel vouchers IMMEDIATELY upon receiving them. Please take note you may encounter significant inconveniences and may even have your travel plans aborted if errors are discovered only enroute or upon check-in at the Changi Airport.
