There are two types of JAPAN RAIL PASS : Green (for superior-class Green cars), and Ordinary.
Each of these types is available as a 7-day, 14-day, or 21-day PASS.See "JAPAN RAIL PASS validity", for services that can be used with a JAPAN RAIL PASS.

Valid for railways, buses and ferry boats shown below :
   
1. Railways : All JR Group Railways--Shinkansen " Bullet Train " ( except any reserved or non-reserved seat on " NOZOMI " Train ), limited express trains, express trains, and rapid or local trains. ( with some exceptions )
   
2. Buses : Local lines of JR bus companies ( JR Hokkaido Bus, JR Bus Tohoku, JR, Bus Kanto, JR Tokai Bus, West Japan JR Bus, Chugoku JR Bus, JR Shikoku Bus, JR Kyushu Bus ) and some of JR highway bus services *.
* Sapporo - Otaru; Morioka - Hirosaki; Tokyo, Osaka, Tsukuba Center; Nagoya - Kyoto, Osaka; Osaka - Tsuyama, Kasai Flower Center
   
3. Ferry : Only the JR Miyajima ferry is covered. The JR Hakata - Pusan ( Korea ) ferry is not covered.

Important Note :
  • The Japan Rail Pass is not valid for any seats, reserved pr non-reserved, on "Nozomi" trains on the Tokaido and Sanyo shinkansen lines. ( The pass holders must take "Hikari" or "Kodama" trains. ) If you use a "Nozomi", you must pay the basic fare and the limited express charge, and for a Green Car the Green Car surcharge. Note also that passengers using JR trains on non-JR lines must pay additional fares and charged for sections traveled on such lined
  • The Japan Rail Pass is only valid 3 months from the date of issue, else it will be invalid

 

Valid Period :
  • The validity period of a JAPAN RAIL PASS is the consecutive 7, 14, or 21 days beginning on the date the PASS is first used.
  • Within three months from the date the Exchange Order was issued, you must turn in your Exchange Order to obtain your JAPAN RAIL PASS. At that time, you have to specify the date that you want to start using the PASS. It can be any date within one month from the date the PASS is received.
  • Once the PASS has a starting date written on it, the date cannot be changed.

 ENTRY VISA (S) AND TRANSIT VISA (S) REQUIREMENT
 In order to ensure a smooth and hassle free trip, we would like to seek your kind attention to take special notice of the following important reminders :
  • Passengers' name in the booking must be spelt exactly in the same manner as stated in the passenger's passports.
  • Passports should still have a minimum of 6 months validity upon completion of the journey.
  • It is the passenger's responsibility to obtain all Entry Visa or Transit Visa that are required to enter the country of destination or stopovers.
  • Transit Visas must be duly obtained if the plane's flight path involved a Transit or Stopover in another country like for example, a Transit in Australia whilst en route to New Zealand or a stopover in the United States whilst en route to Canada.
  • Passengers are advised to check carefully for any errors or omissions in the booking details, flight itineraries, air tickets, and hotel vouchers IMMEDIATELY upon receiving them. Please take note you may encounter significant inconveniences and may even have your travel plans aborted if errors are discovered only enroute or upon check-in at the Changi Airport.
