Hokkaido Rail Pass
Destination : Japan
There are two types of Hokkaido Rail Pass : Green (for superior-class Green cars) and Ordinary. Both are valid for three days and five days.

Validity :
The Hokkaido Rail Pass is valid for all the train lines of Hokkaido Railway Co. and the bus lines of JR Hokkaido Bus (excluding Sapporo - Asahikawa / Sapporo - Mombetsu / Sapporo - Obihiro / Sapporo - Kiroro / Sapporo – Erimo & Hiroo lines and irregular lines).
Ordinary Car: Ordinary Car reserved seats on Express and Limited Express trains can be used.
* Surcharges are required to ride First-class Cars (Green Cars) or Sleeping Cars (Limited Express charge, berth charge, etc.). First-class Car (Green Car): These cars of Limited Express trains can be used. Surcharges are required to ride Sleeping Cars (Limited Express charge and berth charge).
Valid Period :
You must exchange your Exchange Order for a Hokkaido Rail Pass within 3 months from the date of issue. At that time, you must specify the date you want to start using the pass. It can be any date within 1 month from the date the pass is received. Once the pass has a starting date written on it, the date cannot be changed. (If the passenger is traveling between stations (e.g., on a night train) when the pass expires, the pass is valid for the day following the expiration date)
Refund :
Rail passes whose starting date has not arrived can be returned to the office of purchase for a refund, within 1 year of the date of issue, minus 10% service charge for the pass cost converted to yen. There is no refund for passes whose starting date has arrived. No refund on a pass made in the event of train service delay, suspension or the like. A Hokkaido Rail Pass cannot be reissued if lost or stolen. Keep it safe.
Reservation placement/cancellation :
You can reserve a Hokkaido Rail Pass before you start your trip. If you reserve the pass, you won't need to fill out a Hokkaido Rail Pass application form at the time of purchase. You can pick up your reserved items at the JR Hokkaido Visitors Information Desk in JR Sapp Station or New Chitose Airport Station. You can use this service even if you've already made a contract with a travel agent, etc.

ENTRY VISA (S) AND TRANSIT VISA (S) REQUIREMENT
In order to ensure a smooth and hassle free trip, we would like to seek your kind attention to take special notice of the following important reminders:-

  • Passengers' name in the booking must be spelt exactly in the same manner as stated in the passenger's passports.
  • Passports should still have a minimum of 6 months validity upon completion of the journey.
  • It is the passenger's responsibility to obtain all Entry Visa or Transit Visa that are required to enter the country of destination or stopovers.
  • Transit Visas must be duly obtained if the plane's flight path involved a Transit or Stopover in another country like for example, a Transit in Australia whilst en route to New Zealand or a stopover in the United States whilst en route to Canada.
  • Passengers are advised to check carefully for any errors or omissions in the booking details, flight itineraries, air tickets, and hotel vouchers IMMEDIATELY upon receiving them. Please take note you may encounter significant inconveniences and may even have your travel plans aborted if errors are discovered only enroute or upon check-in at the Changi Airport.
