| Rail Passes : | ||||||
| Rail passes provide a flexible and convenient way to travel because you can decide where to go within the rail network during your journey without making bookings beforehand. Rail passes are also great value because they provide unlimited rail trips for the number of travel days indicated on the pass. You should validate your rail pass before you r first train ride in Europe and UK within the pass validation period . This also applies if you are taking a ferry for the first leg of your journey. | ||||||

| Point - To - Point : | ||||||
Ideal for single journey from one European destination to
another. Most tickets are issued open - dated. There are no restrictions to
travel on specific date or time with point - to - point tickets. You can
also have unlimited stopovers along the route to your destination within the
2 - months' validity period of your ticket. You can get off the rain today
and back on another day, as long as you continue on the same route to your
destination. However, a ticket only allows the boarding of a train but does
not guarantee a seat. For a small fee, reservations can easily be made prior
to your departure. |

| Reservation : | ||||||
A rail pass or rail ticket allows you to board a train but
does not guarantee you a seat. Therefore, by making a reservation, you can
be assured of a seat on a specific train at stipulated time and date. Seat
reservations is compulsory on "Premier" or High - Speed trains but is not
required on most local and regional services. You can avoid the need to
queue at the ticket offices at the train station through advance reservation
if the train which you have decided to travel on requires mandatory
reservations . Trains requiring reservations : Some intercity and EuroCity trains which are designated with a "R" in European timetables. All High - Speed (Premier) Trains, except ICE in Germany (though reservations are recommended). Sleepers or Couchettes on Overnight and Hotel Trains. Swiss Scenic Trains such as the Glacier Express, Golden Pass Line, Bernina Express, Chocolate Train, William Tell Express etc. require advance reservations. Some short and local / regional services do not offer or require reservations. Reservations are not necessary in Switzerland (except for Scenic Trains) or Great Britain, die to frequent services. Reservations for Bulgaria, Greece, Portugal or Romania can only be made upon arrival in those countries. Reservations for Eastern Europe can only be made to / from major cities. | Classes Of Travel : | ||||||
First class is quieter and roomier, with fewer
seats per car / compartment compared to Second Class. There are also more
spaces available for luggage. On some Premier Trains (High Speed Trains), a
meal is included for First Class travel. The class of travel you choose
depends on your budget and preferences. |
