Day
1 - Arrive Rome ( 2 nights )
Welcome to Rome, capital of Italy, and the Eternal city! After
check-in, there’s time to unwind or perhaps people-watch from a
pavement café. This evening we enjoy a Welcome Drink with our
Tour Director and fellow travellers.

Day 2 -
Rome
Sightseeing and At Leisure
This morning our guided sightseeing tour
begins with a visit to St. Peter's Square and to the awe-inspiring Basilica. Then we rejoin the coach and drive by the area of Trastevere, cross the River Tiber and see the Tiberina island before viewing the Circus Maximus, where the chariot races were held, which is overlooked by the Palatine Hill. Finally we visit the Colosseum where we learn about the events that took place here, particularly gladiatorial combat. Later you will have the opportunity to maybe explore the ancient Catacombs on the old Appian Way. ( Buffet Breakfast )

Day 3 -
Rome Sightseeing
- Venice ( 2 nights )
First we enjoy a guided visit of Michelangelo's miraculous Sistine Chapel before we travel north from Rome through the fertile farmland with distant views of the Apennine hills. We pass by the medieval hill-top towns of Orte and Orvieto, at one time used as a papal stronghold, before reaching the region of Tuscany. Here we see the Chianti vineyards and the extensive olive groves before we cross through the Apennine hills and eventually reach the flat plains of the Veneto region and magical Venice. Day 4 -
Venice Sightseeing & At Leisure
The
perfect way to absorb the city’s unique sights and sounds is on
an included canal cruise to St. Mark’s Square. We will see the
Byzantine Basilica, the Bridge of Sighs and the Doges’ Palace
before a demonstration of glass-blowing at a Murano glass
factory. Then free time to discover some of the other 120
islands in the Lagoon and perhaps enjoy a fresh seafood lunch in
one of the typical restaurants. ( Buffet Breakfast / Dinner )

Day 5 -
Venice - Verona - Florence ( 2 nights )
We enjoy a leisurely drive to
Verona, Shakespeare’s city of Romeo and Juliet as well as the
‘Two Gentlemen’. We see the impressive Roman arena and walk to see the balcony of Juliet, close to Piazza delle Erbe. We continue into the hills of Tuscany to Renaissance Florence. On arrival our guided walking tour shows us the Piazza della Signoria, the Cathedral and Baptistery with its famed bronze doors and visits the Santa Croce Basilica - burial place of many great Italian men including Michelangelo. Tonight we enjoy a Highlight Dinner in a local restaurant. ( Buffet Breakfast / Highlight Dinner )

Day 6 -
Florence At Leisure
Today, you have the whole day at leisure to explore the city and your Tour Director will advise you on the best places to shop for hand-made leather and 18 carat gold jewellery, all located in the Santa Croce district where fine craftsmen have worked for centuries. This afternoon, you have the opportunity to take an excursion to San Gimignano, famous for its tall medieval towers. ( Buffet Breakfast )

Day 7 -
Florence - Monte Cassino - Sorrento ( 2 nights )
We
travel south into the Chianti hills and then through the Lazio
region to stop at Monte Cassino where we visit the Commonwealth
Second World War cemetery located beneath the famous Abbey. Then
through the fertile Campania and via Caserta to the Bay of
Naples in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius. Finally, we take a
scenic costal drive to the well known resort town of Sorrento. ( Buffet Breakfast / Dinner )

Day 8 -
Isle
of Capri Excursion
This
morning we board our ferry and sail across the Bay of Naples to
the island of the Emperor Tiberius. At leisure, perhaps take an
excursion to Anacapri with its magnificent views and visit the
charming white-washed villa of Dr. Axel Munthe. Later, we return
to Sorrento, where we visit an inlaid wood-working factory. Later,
we enjoy a 'Be My Guest' dinner of local specialties together in a
family run restaurant. ( Buffet Breakfast / 'Be My Guest'

Day 9 -
Sorrento - Pompeii - Rome
This
morning’s exciting highlight is a visit to the excavations at
Pompeii. Here our local guide will bring to life the day by day
existence of the early Romans as we explore the city which was
preserved by the lava from the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.
Then we head back to Rome for the last night of our Italian
odyssey. This evening we all enjoy a Farewell Dinner together
with our Tour Director and new found friends. ( Buffet Breakfast
/ Farewell Dinner )

Day 10 -
Depart Rome
Time
to bid farewell to your fellow travellers and Tour Director as
your tour comes to an end. Airport transfers are available,
conditions apply.
