Itinerary :
 
  • Day 1 - London – Amsterdam
    Greetings from our Tour Director before a scenic drive to the White Cliffs of Dover. Here we board our ferry for our cruise to Calais in France. Then we continue by coach through Belgium to Holland and Amsterdam, one of Europe’s friendliest cities where we see the Mint Tower and Dam Square. Tonight, we'll enjoy a Welcome Drink with our Tour Director and fellow travellers. Afterwards, why not take the opportunity to explore Amsterdam further on a canal cruise?

  • Day 2 - Amsterdam – Cologne - Rhine Cruise - Heidelberg - Mannheim
    This morning we travel eastwards past Arnhem en route to Cologne to see the magnificent Cathedral. Then via Bonn to the Rhine Valley where we embark on a relaxing Rhine cruise gliding past terraced vineyards and medieval castles. We will enjoy a guided commentary on the Rhine and have the chance to maybe enjoy some of the delicious white wine, for which this area is renownedm as we glide slowly past fabulous scenery to St. Goar. Here we disembark and pass by the Lorelei Rock before continuing to Heidelberg to view its red sandstone Castle, towering above the university city of 'Student Prince' fame. Later we drive to our Rhineland hotel. ( Buffet Breakfast / Dinner ) Hotel: Holiday Inn City Centre
     
  • Day 3 - Mannheim - Schaffhausen - Lucerne ( 2 nights )
    Today we drive through the fairytale Black Forest, where cuckoo clocks were first invented, and on to Switzerland for views of the mighty Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen. Next past picturesque wooden chalets en route to the lakeside resort of Lucerne for our two-night stay. ( Buffet Breakfast / Dinner )

  • Day 4 - Lucerne Orientation and At Leisure
    Our morning orientation features the covered Chapel Bridge straddling the River Reuss, the poignant Lion Monument and the medieval towers which guard this charming town. Then free time to take an exhilarating trip up a nearby mountain, to shop for Swiss timepieces and chocolate in the old town or to take a leisurely stroll beside the Lake. ( Buffet Breakfast )
     
  • Day 5 - Lucerne - Savigny Les Beaune - Paris ( 2 nights )
    This morning we drive northwards to Basel, located on the River Rhine. Here we cross the border into France. We drive through the region of Alsace, passing remains of the Maginot Line and pass Belfort, once the border between France and Germany. Then past the onion-domed churches of Montbeliard and through the Burgundy countryside with a stop to admire the vineyards at Savigny-Les-Beaune. Later we arrive in the romantic city of Paris where we may perhaps enjoy a tour of the city's glittering illuminations tonight. ( Buffet Breakfast ) Hotel: Holiday Inn La Villette
     
  • Day 6 - Paris Sightseeing and At Leisure
    Our morning guided sightseeing tour includes views of Notre Dame Cathedral, beautifully located on an island in the River Seine, the renowned Champs Elysées which lead to the Arc de Triomphe, the magnificent Opera House and the ascent of the Eiffel Tower to the second level, the ideal location for spectacular city views. The rest of the day is to enjoy this wonderful city, perhaps to cruise the Seine, or visit the Chateau of Versailles. You may wish to shop or just sit in a cafe and watch the world go by. This evening we celebrate our tour together with a Farewell Dinner with wine in a local restaurant. ( Buffet Breakfast / Farewell Dinner )
  • Day 7 - Paris – London
    This morning after breakfast we bid farewell to Paris and travel across the First World War battlefields of the Somme. We catch a glimpse of the memorial to the Canadian soldiers who lost their lives at the Battle of the Vimy Ridge. On our arrival in the Channel Port of Calais, we board our ferry to Dover. From here we drive back to London where our tour comes to an end. ( Buffet Breakfast )
