Itinerary

Day 1     Arrive Madrid
Welcome to Madrid! After check-in there is time to unwind and relax. This evening, why not try the traditional dish of paella in one of the restaurants lining the lively Plaza Mayor Hotel: Florida Norte
Day 2     Madrid - Toledo - Granada
Our drive brings us to ancient Toledo where our guide will show us the cathedral and the ancient synagogue plus a visit to a steel workshop. Then through Andalusia to the Moorish hilltop town of Granada. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)                   Hotel: Aben Humeya
Day 3   Granada - Costa del Sol
This morning, time to, subject to availability, visit the Alhambra Palace before our orientation tour of the city. Then we travel to Torremolinos, the most popular Mediterranean resort on the Costa del Sol, where we spend the night.  (Buffet breakfast)                    Hotel: Tryp Guadalmar
Day 4    Costa del Sol - Fez (2 nights)
Our day begins with a scenic coastal driveto Algeciras where we board the ferry to North Africa. From here we join our coach and drive into a different world as we enter Morocco, passing the Rif Mountains to the imperial city of Fez. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)                       Hotel: Sofia Fez
Day 5    Fez Sightseeing & at leisure
Our morning sightseeing tour includes the Royal Palace and the labyrinthine Medina. You can experience the atmosphere of this exotic city with time to haggle over beautiful Moroccan carpets – an everlasting souvenir! Then why not relax by the hotel pool and later take a stroll under star-studded skies (Buffet breakfast)
Day 6    Fez - Marrakesh (2 nights)
This morning a breathtaking drive takes us through the foothills of the Atlas Mountains to the city of Marrakesh, Africa's most popular year-round sun resort. It was once the favourite holiday spot of Winston Churchill, a haven where he used to relax and paint. We'll spend two exciting nights here. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)      Hotel: Ryad Mogador Kasbah
Day 7   Marrakesh sightseeing & at leisure
Our morning sightseeing tour includes the Bahia Palace and the vast Djemma el F'na Square with its palm readers and acrobats. Then there is time at leisure for bargain hunting in the many souks and bazaars or perhaps take an excursion to a Berber village in the Ourika Valley. (Buffet breakfast)
Day 8   Marrakesh - Casablanca
Today we make our way to Casablanca, scene of Bogart's most magical moments. Here we find some of North Africa's best beaches. On our arrival a tour takes us for a panoramic drive of the Corniche, plus views of the mosque and the modern sections of the city. Next we visit the casbah with its maze of twisted streets, with time to explore. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)                        Hotel: Kenzi Basma Hotel
Day 9    Casablanca - Tangier
This morning's drive brings us to Rabat, capital of this fascinating country. Here we see the Mausoleum and Royal Palace on our orientation tour. From here we continue on to Tangier, where an orientation shows us the Cape Spartel, the point where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)               Hotel: Rif Tangier
Day 10   Tangier - Seville(2 nights)
Today we board our ferry for the journey back to Algeciras. As we cross the Straits of Gibraltar, we enjoy impressive views of the famous Rock. We then disembark and join our coach for the drive through the Jerez vineyards, home of sherry. Next, we make our way to Andalusia's most beautiful city, Seville, for our two-night stay. This evening, why not enjoy a fiery flamenco show (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)                  Hotel: Gran Hotel Lar
Day 11   Siville sightseeing  
After breakfast, we learn that this romantic city was deeply influenced by the Moors, hence the architecture of the Giralda Tower, which is included on our sightseeing tour along with the pools and fountains of the Maria Luisa Park. Later enjoy some time at leisure to wander the streets of the former Jewish quarter. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)
Day 12    Seville - Lisbon (2 nights)
We drive through the cork trees of the Alentejo region to the Portuguese border and travel on via Setúbal to Lisbon, a great seafaring city situated where the Tagus River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Tonight, maybe dine whilst listening to haunting Fado melodies along the Bairro Alto (Buffet breakfast)                                              Hotel: Costa da Caparica
Day 13    Lisbon sightseeing  
Our sightseeing shows us Vasco da Gama’s tomb inside the Hieronymite Monastery, the medieval quarter of the city and views of the Belem Tower. Then time at leisure to maybe take an optional excursion to Cascais (Buffet breakfast)
Day 14    Lisbon - Madrid
Via Setúbal and Evora we cross back into Spain near Merida. Magnificent but arid countryside glides past our coach windows as we return to Madrid. On arrival our sight-seeing tour includes the Royal Palace, Puerta de Sol and the Cervantes Memorial. (Buffet breakfast / Dinner)            Hotel: Novotel Campo de las Naciones
Day 15    Depart Madrid
Bid farewell to your Tour Director and new-found friends as our tour comes to an end. (Buffet breakfast)

In 2008, the equivalent departure of these listed tours sold our early, and Trafalgar will operate them again in 2009 over any other departure. If the date of a preferred departure tour does not fit with your travel plans, don't worry; our capacity is adjusted each year to ensure that the vast majority of all departures operate as scheduled. Furthermore, we will not reschedule any tour within 50 days of its scheduled departure date between 1 May and 30 Sep.
