Itinerary

Day 1     Arrive Rome
Welcome to Rome, the Eternal City! The city stands on the Tiber river and enjoys a long and celebrated history. Relax after your journey. Later, meet your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception. Then an orientation drive will show you the Tiber and St. Peter's Basilica - a perfect introduction to the sights which await you!

Day 2      Rome Sightseeing - Montecatini ( Tuscan Hills ) ( 6 nights )
Your expert Local Guide takes you on a guided sightseeing tour starting at the Vatican City. Visit St. Peter's Basilica and then enjoy a small group sightseeing visit inside the Sistine Chapel. Cross the Tiber River and see the Forum, centre of daily life in ancient Rome. View the Colosseum − the largest built in the Roman Empire − where public events and gladiatorial contests were held. Later, enjoy a spectacular scenic drive through the Tuscan Hills to the spa resort of Montecatini, your home for the next six nights!

Day 3      San Gimignano and Siena Excursion
Explore San Gimignano known as the ‘medieval Manhattan’, famed for its ring of towers which can be seen several kilometers from town. Shop for locally produced delicacies and hand-painted Tuscan pottery. Later, in Siena, see the Piazza del Campo, scene of the celebrated annual Palio horse race, and the stunning marble Cathedral which dominates the town.

Day 4      Pisa and Vinci Excursion
In the coastal town of Pisa see the famous Leaning Tower, the finely sculpted marble Cathedral and the ornate Baptistery. Then travel to the scenic Tuscan town of Vinci where you will hear all about the life of Leonardo da Vinci and enjoy an included visit to the Museo Leonardiano containing some of his work. Join your fellow travellers tonight for a wonderful Be My Guest dinner experience with beautiful views over the Tuscan hills.

Day 5      Montecatini at Leisure
Montecatini Terme is one of Italy’s most popular thermal spa destinations, and you have the entire day to do exactly as you please! Your Travel Director will be available for suggestions on how to spend your day.

Day 6      Florence Excursion
Your expert Local Guide gives you a fascinating account of the history of Renaissance Florence during your walking tour. See the magnificent Duomo and Piazza Signoria. View the Ponte Vecchio bridge, one of the city's most famous landmarks. Experience a delicious Highlight Lunch in a local restaurant and then return to Montecatini for a relaxing afternoon.

Day 7     Florence Excursion
Return to Florence today to utilise your included 'hop-on hop-off' sightseeing ticket. After some time for sightseeing and shopping, you may decide to take an optional excursion to the Accademia to see Michelangelo's David - possibly the most famous sculpture in the world.

Day 8     Montecatini ( Tuscan Hills ) - Assis - Rome
Set on the slopes of Mount Subasio, Assisi is the birthplace of St. Francis. Visit the Basilica during your walking tour with an expert Local Guide. In Rome tonight, celebrate the end of your with your companions at a Farewell Dinner.

Transfers on Day 1 at Rome Fiumicino Airport will operate at 9.30pm, 12.30pm and 3.30pm. Guests arriving later should make their own way to the first hotel. Return transfers on the last travel day will arrive at Rome Fiumicino Airport at 7am and 9.30am.
